Tennis can be a graceful and stylish sport.

Like a gazelle, a top player darts off the ground, while the rhino gets stuck on it.

If you hold a tennis ball in your left hand and flick it upwards with your right middle finger, the ball rises about one foot. Now set the ball on the ground and flick it forward and it rolls ten or fifteen feet. Same force applied, the vertical resistance of gravity shows here to be ten to fifteen times as much as the horizontal one.

Is tennis mainly horizontal? This demonstration shows it is mainly vertical!

I call my system Modern Tennis Methodology. I have had the integrity and the courage to develop a most simple and effective tennis coaching method, something that can be applied from beginner to pro level, from a little child to an elder. It results not only in an efficient game but also the stylish performance that you see in the best pros.

No matter what the industry says in its confused search through vapid stereotypes, truths are surfacing like pure water from a natural spring – in some cases, more like hot thermal haze that evaporates the myriad misconceptions that abound.

The public knows!

Tennis can be a natural, easy sport to learn!

Oscar Wegner, TennisTeacher.com – TennisIsEasy.com

Our teachings, Modern Tennis Methodology, MTM for short, are totally natural, efficient, and non intrusive.

After all, it is you, the being, the spirit, who plays tennis, not the mind (read THINKING) with a bunch of ideas that complicate the process and your performance in the game.

The hands and the feel of the ball are all you need to focus on. You learned how to walk and run when you were two or three years old. Your feet will take you anywhere you want to go without even a thought.

Look, don’t think, and as you do that, LOOK how the ball changes speed. Tennis is a SLOW GAME. What makes it FAST? Using your MIND, THINKING.

Relax, move, execute and FEEL above all. Forget the power. You have it within.

Touch and feel the ball!

What’s the secret?

It is the extreme simplicity of a NO-THOUGHT-ALL-FEEL STATE, so intense but so focused that time expands.

If at times you’ve had such an experience you would know how serene, how all-feeling you can connect to action yourself!

For Martial Arts, Bruce Lee said “Be Like Water”!

For Tennis, Oscar says, “Be Like Air”. It’s everywhere!

I wish you the happiest of holidays and a wonderful 2017.

We reinstated the Holiday 50% discount on all products until midnight January 2nd. Use the discount code “2016”.

Roger is back on track for his comeback in 2017.

Two things will be the clue to his success, provided he regains his speed of foot:

FIRST, his extreme technical simplicity, which most observers call his incredible fluidity.

SECOND, his forehand open stance, which was compromised by an unfortunate one year stint, an intense training scenario from a very known coach he highly respected.

The miscue? “Step into the ball”, repeated over and over! Federer questioned why he was asked to do that (he had the best forehand in the world at the time this started) and he was told he needed such important fundamental.

Sadly, he complied, and the extreme accuracy (and confidence) in his forehand was gone. It was one year that cost him several Grand Slams he could have won on his own. Plus a deviation from the extreme fluidity he had had!

Beware of such specious and damaging ideas that can make you think of your feet and take away from the ultimate truth: tennis is a game of hand-eye coordination exclusively, not hand-eye-foot! You learned to move naturally when you were two or three years old!

Step into the ball and close stance are perhaps the biggest barriers to tennis prowess, although insisted by 90% or more of coaches today!

From today December 10 through Sunday December 18 all products on oscarwegner.com, including streaming of all DVDs, are discounted 50%. Use this opportunity to become familiar with all the revolutionary techniques that will propel your game to new heights. The code for the 50% discount is “2016”.

With my best regards and wishes for a very Happy Holiday Season,

Oscar

There is an intimate relationship between simplicity and the quality of your game.

Actually, by actual survey, the top pros get to that stage by eliminating as many complications as possible from their game.

This process, for them, becomes so extreme that they favor coaches that make them FEEL they are playing a simpler and easier game, and they reject anyone that adds details that make them THINK more. Some of those coaches so favored are former champions themselves!

And right there are two keywords to a superior game. Tennis is a game of FEEL, not of THINK, although this needs to be clarified. We all love FEEL in all endeavors of life, It’s an ability to be in touch (forgive my pun) with the physical.

Whose ability? Here comes the philosophical: the SPIRIT WITHIN (each one of us).

There are two types of “thinking”. One is with the “mind”, the other more “knowing”, much higher into the aesthetic waves. You look at something, you find it “aesthetic”, beautiful, more natural, more consonant (in agreement or harmony) with who you are.

Getting back to the practical, tennis is a game of feel, of simplicity, of mental calmness, of doing what is natural, efficient, and the way to achieve that is taking the game’s basics to its upmost irreducible principles that include how you learned to walk, how to use your hands, how to feel with them, how to find something, how to play games.

Further, tested with kids, it works unbelievably well. Kids rally back and forth in no time!

That is why I teach open stance, like shaking hands (which could be also called NO STANCE, NATURAL-STANCE, NO-THOUGHT STANCE), tracking the ball until it is within your reach, rather than undue “preparation”. Just run to where you want to meet the ball, FIND it, FEEL and FINISH the stroke (the 3 Fs).

Why that FINISH? So you relate this FINISH to where the ball just went, without any other thought. It is part of that FEEL that is the aesthetic memory of the athlete within!

The reason to turn for the one-handed backhand is because it the playing hand closer to the ball and allows an easier FFF (Federer, Wawrinka, Dimitrov, Kuerten, Henin, Sabatini). Natural stance again!

Two-handed backhands, so well demonstrated by the Williams sisters, also open stance.

You find that in all my DVDs and books, the irreducible basics of a superb performer and the delicate developments thereof.

Why did I get so simple? Why do I keep repeating the?

Simply, to counteract the tennis world “experts” that keep adding misconceptions and complication that “kill” the game!

For most people, tennis being easy is a difficult concept to agree with. So let me ask you a few questions:

1) Do you like applying your own physical makeup, slow, fast, strong or delicate, easily when you play? Or do you adjust to strict ideas as to how to perform (i.e. conventional)?

2) Do you like ease and naturalness on your footwork? Or should there be a lot of detail and structure in your moves?

3) Would you want power without too much effort? Or do you think more power is necessarily dependent on force and effort?

4) Would you want to carry on your decisions with ease? Or do you shun simplicity fearing you would lose control?

5) Would you want your moves to naturally help your shots? Or do you feel you need body “positions” to succeed?

6) Would you want to have extra time for your shots? Or do you feel tennis is too fast and you need to prepare “early”?

Here is where you can test your answers: Modern Tennis Methodology loves the simplicity, ease and naturalness of techniques that will work for your body’s preference, your particular physique, your beingness (rather than “thinkingness”), your feel rather than “mind”, and much more.

Smoothness and ease are some of the most notable results from these techniques. Control, ball placement, touch and power are some other results.

If these align with your goals, you need to inspect them at a low price but high results. The four Tennis Into the Future DVDs (about six hours comprising all strokes plus a bonus 2 hr. DVD compilation of the best of my works), are only $59.95. The eleven Oscar’s DVDs are $89.95, or streamed $47.

Your well being, love for the game and confidence will benefit or your money back, guaranteed.

For the best example of ease and simplicity look at Roger Federer. He cleaned up and simplified his game lately to what it was when he was number one, and is coming back next year most likely to be again somewhat in command on the tour.

Join the revolution and evolution. Tennis is really a much easier sport to learn than what has been portrayed!

Oscar Wegner, tennisiseasy.com

Conventional tennis coaching is grounded on the premise that you must think about your feet.

In contrast, Modern Tennis Methodology frees you to move in a totally natural, instinctive way.

Tennis is, as you may have noticed, a game of emergencies: you are compelled to run to get to the ball!

What would be the easiest way to move around? As a baby you were guided to discover it on your own. As an adult, shouldn’t your coach do the same?

Forgive my insistence, but wouldn’t it be better not thinking of your feet at all, thus freeing your attention from feet positions to focus on racquet angle awareness and the feel of the ball on the strings?

Tennis would then become, for you, a game of purely expressed hand-eye coordination, where you thrive on feel and putting the ball where you want at the speed you want and with the spin you want.

Isn’t that easy? Watch Federer’s video below and notice how he plays modern tennis when the emergencies arise. Wouldn’t it be priceless if we would all PLAY LIKE THE PROS*?

Federer at his best: click for video

It’s about time to drop age-old misconceptions about this wonderful sport.

Tennis learning and therefore coaching is much easier than most experts assert. It’s been made difficult, complex, complicated.

Modern Tennis Methodology is simple and based on hand-eye coordination, leaving the feet free to move as naturally as possible.

MTM is not footwork stance dependent. It only helps you recover your essence, your natural balance, power and speed. It’s more power with less effort, like Martial Arts.

Humans have an inborn desire to know themselves.

Sports have become not only a discharger of accumulated energy but also a vehicle to show one’s mastery over a simple task, in most cases, of controlling and placing a ball, and a tool to learn controlling one’s body as well.

Whether baseball, basketball, tennis, football, soccer, golf, cricket, squash, badminton, handball, bowling, hockey, lacrosse, ping-pong or croquet, pool or billiards, mastery is, or isn’t a simple thing.

Humans are very special beings, in essence more spiritual that we ever thought we are. There are many philosophies about that, the majority complicating one’s search with misconceptions, other obscuring who we really are.

The real science is that which clarifies not only who we really are, but that one that provides a path to rid of one’s barriers through the dead-ends and labyrinths of one’s life.

While that science makes full appearance, tennis, the way I teach it, tending, trending and threading to an extreme simplicity can lead to great joy. It permits you to feel and strive in that spirit-body connection which is the essence of all great performances in sports.

Thought and mechanics can either be aligned or fight each other. Alignment and simplicity brings you more feel, more calmness, closer to your essence, while added data can make you more solid and complicate the task.

It seems a conundrum, a complicated matter, but the opposite is truth, a simplicity to honor and behold: we are humans, body and spirit, lovely souls in which the spirit is King!

And what is a spirit? Well, JUST FEEL IT!

Feel your hands, feel your racquet, feel the ball, feel your body and feel the simplicity. Feel yourself!

The ideal kinetic chain for tennis for a human body is rotational, not linear as commonly taught. Simple changes of motion and direction transform into force. Bruce Lee found that out for Martial Arts.

Oscar Wegner did that for tennis. Open stance and topspin are becoming the major basics of the modern game.

Furthermore, ideal footwork is noiseless gliding, not stepping hard. It is faster and you cover more ground.

Mostly overseas coaches and Richard Williams, father of Venus and Serena, applied Oscar’s teachings to then children, and history has proven Oscar right. Many of those students are the top players of today.
