Cross or Straight?

Tennis racquets today have great power.

How do you get feel?

All modern strokes, some more obvious than others, are hit across the line of the intended shot.

Even though you see extension on forehands, such as Federer’s and Serena’s, the body rotation has already made the path across the ball.

The combination of topspin and sidespin generated means that the ball traveled across the strings, giving you a longer feel than a flat shot would.

Volleys are particularly sensitive to a cross-bound path.

No shot is spinless in today’s professional game.

Exaggerate this action in practice and see what you feel as a result.  Intend it fully.  It may give you a whole new perspective for your game.
