Why Small Grips

If you look at the racquets of most top players at Wimbledon, you’ll notice that they are using small grips.

Rafael Nadal uses a 4 1/4, Roger Federer 4 3/8, and so on.

If you are in the process of buying a new racquet and your previous one has a large grip, test a smaller one.

You may have to insist.  This is contrary to what the industry recommends, and demo racquets still are in the 4 1/2 range.

Why would smaller grips help your game?  Well, if you are following these tips, you may be falling for the modern game.

With modern strokes you want to feel the ball in your racquet, you want to handle it with more control.

Smaller grips will help you with both.

Power should not be an issue.  With modern racquets’ power, the quest is for control.
