Present Time

One of the difficult tasks a tennis player faces is letting go of a shot just missed or a point just lost.

How can one focus on the next point, on the next moment?

How can one dismiss what just happened and stay in present time?

Here is a trick which will help you look and not think.

Find something not too close to you, like a corner of the fence or even a distant cloud and stare at it for a few seconds.

You can do that while you walk to your next position to serve or to return serve.

You can accompany this with a deep breath, retaining a bit the air inside.

And specifically, don’t rush.  Without delaying the match, still take your time.
