Topspin Tip #8

If you have a one-handed backhand, meet the ball by pointing the hitting arm towards the net, with the racquet laid back, almost perpendicular to the arm.

Approach the ball slowly, accelerating at contact with the non-hitting arm going back and the shoulder blades going back together, while lifting your racquet and your body.

You don’t need to step into the ball. It is usually more helpful letting your body go slightly back.

This again brings the racquet up and across the ball, emphasizing control without loosing much strength.
