Pros and amateurs alike suffer physically with the semi-open (I don’t know why they call it “neutral”) and the closed stance. If the inside foot gets planted (for example the left foot on a right-handed player on a forehand) the player’s body gets undue stress from the twist, affecting knee and lower back.

The open stance, on the contrary, is much more efficient in that it loads rotation on the outside foot, which releases easily towards the end of the modern stroke, which is hit more across than ever.
